Biography

Merrill Everett Moore, 26 September 1923, on a farm in Algona, Iowa, USA, d. 14 June 2000, San Diego, California, USA. Moore had a natural talent for music and at the age of eight accompanied himself on the piano and made his debut on WHO Des Moines in 1935. He was interested in boogie woogie as performed by Freddie Slack and Albert Ammons. Moore was playing the classics during his high school years, when he started to play the style himself.
