A down-to-earth Pope tries to balance bureaucratic duties of his position with the secular world. Frustrated with his lack of freedom he flees to the Italian countryside to get in touch with real people and get back to helping them out one on one.

After being accidently locked out of the Vatican, the newly elected pontiff decides to spend his time getting to know the common people.

Plot Synopsis:

Pope Leo XIV has become so wrapped up in his busy schedule that he no longer has time to deal directly with average citizens. One day, he accidentally gets locked out of the Vatican and decides to travel to the small Italian village of Montepetra. There, he meets a wide variety of ordinary folks, including a tough youngster named Giuliano and a deaf girl. He also tries to help fix the broken aqueduct that has prevented Montepetra from receiving water.
Meanwhile, three Cardinals try to maintain order at the Vatican until Leo can be found...
