Description by OLDIES.com:

In a dark section of London, an eccentric scientist has created a powerful death ray whose light beams can destroy an entire army in a matter of seconds. His purpose is to use this incredible power for good, but his unscrupulous associate Rolf Alferson has other ideas. Alferson murders the scientist by utilizing a deadly poison and plans to sell the ray gun to the highest bidder. Suave detective Hugh "Bulldog" Drummond discovers the killing and takes the case with his usual sharp eye and flair for the tongue-in-cheek. He soon finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time when Scotland Yard accuses him of murder. The ace investigator must fight to clear his name and find the missing death ray before the real criminals can get the weapon into the hands of worldwide enemies.

Exciting, fast-paced and filled with humorous dialogue, Arrest Bulldog Drummond was a prime entry in the popular mystery series. The Bulldog Drummond character was a pivotal career choice for actor John Howard. Having gained fame for his performance beside Ronald Coleman in 1937's Lost Horizon, Drummond was for Howard what Sherlock Holmes and The Falcon were for Basil Rathbone and Tom Conway. Arrest Bulldog Drummond contains more sci-fi elements than usual in films of this nature and also features veteran horror movie star George Zucco (The Mummy's Hand, Voodoo Man, The Flying Serpent). Director James Hogan helmed several Drummond films as well as Universal's B-horror classic The Mad Ghoul, which also featured Zucco.

Product Description:

Zucco is a madman threatening the whole world with his ray gun. See "Bulldog Drummond" for more entries in this series.

Plot Synopsis:

Captain Hugh "Bulldog" Drummond once again finds his wedding plans disrupted when on the way to his bachelor dinner, he finds his friend Richard Gannett mortally wounded. Apparently Gannet had been working on a ray gun that activates bombs from a distance, and the killers wanted this device. When Drummond starts investigating, he begins receiving threats in the mail, warning him to stop meddling or someone close to him will get hurt. Fearing for his fiancee's safety, Drummond sends Phyllis on what was to be their honeymoon cruise. But when he discovers the criminals' identities, he realizes that they have boarded the same ship as Phyllis and her aunt. Now Drummond and his friends have to fly to St. Anthony's Island and stop the villains before they get to Phyllis.
