This best of collects a variety of vocal and instrumental recordings from throughout the brilliant jazz pianist's career, from 1929's sprightly solo piano "Smashing Thirds," to 1942's gorgeously delicate "Jitterbug Waltz," performed on organ with a big band accompaniment. It also includes numerous examples of Waller's unique vocal style, like the gently swinging "Your Feet's Too Big," and his tribute to his mentor, James P. Johnson, on Johnson's "A Porter's Love Song to a Chambermaid."
