Rating: 3/5 -- Uncle Drew isn't much narratively. There's not a lot of surprise or structure. But the basketball stuff is solid and watching athletes act is always a delight, while the performances of Howery, Irving and Kroll help raise the bar a bit. Full Review

[T]his affectionate basketball-themed comedy from sports-savvy director Charles Stone III comes across as an effective feature-length ad for the game itself.

Rating: 3/10 -- It was always an uphill climb to transform a 30 second Super Bowl ad into a feature film but with a good script this could have worked. Full Review

Rating: 6/10 -- It's a totally formulaic sports movie, but it's got a lot of liveliness to it and watching these guys play off of each other is fun. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- It coasts along on recognition and sports star-status and not enough has been done on the script. Full Review

Mr. O’Neal, playing a martial-arts instructor harboring an old grudge against the title character, quietly but steadily builds the most complete characterization in the movie.

The story-which is based on a Pepsi commercial-hits facile beats of reconciliation, redemption, and romance, but the men's hearty jibes and the glimpses of their latter-day lives evoke depths of emotion and experience that remain untapped. Full Review

Product Description:

Director Charles Stone III's anti-ageist basketball comedy revolves around a young black man (Lil Rel Howery) and his dream of winning the Rucker Classic street ball tournament in Harlem. After losing his team to his arch-rival, he turns to a crew of septuagenarians (played by real-life basketball greats $Kyrie Irving, Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, and Lisa Leslie) in his last bid for victory.
