3.5 stars out of 4 -- MR. GAGA is an intense pleasure: the extensive footage of Naharin's choreography in performances over the years, beautifully captured by Ital Rziel, gives an intimate and thrilling glimpse of what he is all about.
The film includes extensive footage of Naharin’s choreographic creations, their pictorial quality varying dramatically since they span many years. Also included are many scenes of Naharin working with his dancers in alternately tough and tender fashion...
Rating: 3/4 -- The portrait of the artist might be a bit uncritically rosy; still, this is a compelling dance film that captures the drive and passion of a key figure in contemporary choreography. Full Review
Globe and Mail
Rating: 3/5 -- Heymann may have omitted too much due to overestimating the public's knowledge of Naharin's career, yet Mr Gaga is always interesting, and at times deeply moving. Full Review
One Room With A View
Rating: 8/10 -- [B]odies are bent, not broken. The results are resilient, ravishing, resounding. Full Review
Rating: 2.5/4 -- Gaga [has] an emphasis on personal interpretation of the music rather than formal technique ... Director Tomer Heymann shows some startling examples of the results; I just wish we could see more of them, and in greater length. Full Review
Rating: 2/5 -- Credit goes to Heymann for both his presentation of Naharin's work (which might have been tedious and/or inaccessible for the uninitiated) and character (which might have been obscured by the maestro's presence and/or the figures he commands). Full Review
