Description by

Larry Blair, the heir to a wealthy Kentucky family's fortune, is living the high life after moving to the big city. Gleefully leaving his family's staid morals behind, he dates every chorus girl in town. But while preventing a spurned lover from killing herself, Larry is accidentally blinded. Returning to Kentucky, his childhood sweetheart Lisbeth Calvert tries her best to lift his spirits. But without his sight, the former playboy is unable to confess his long-held feelings for the beautiful girl. Unwilling to give up on the man she loves, Lisbeth will need some homespun Southern wisdom to get Larry to see the light.

The lovely Evelyn Venable, star of My Old Kentucky Home, is remembered as Frederic March's love interest in Death Takes a Holiday (1934), Shirley Temple's mother in The Little Colonel (1935) and the voice of the Blue Fairy in Pinocchio (1940). Clara Blandick is instantly recognizable as Aunt Em from The Wizard of Oz (1939). My Old Kentucky Home garnered a great deal of critical acclaim upon its release, with reviewers praising the renditions of Stephen Foster songs by the Hall Johnson Choir. A popular all-black choral group, they also appeared on the soundtracks of Lost Horizon (1937) and Song of the South (1946).

Due to the age and rarity of this film, some picture and sound anomalies do exist.
