Losing your mind is a terrible thing to watch, but the splendid acting in STILL ALICE makes it worth the pain.
Los Angeles Times
Rating: 3.5/5 -- Still Alice takes an uncomfortable topic and wraps it in an easy-to-swallow format; a beautiful woman, pretty surroundings, and a happy-ish ending. Full Review
Dear Cast and Crew
What makes STILL ALICE worth the journey is Julianne Moore's brilliant and delicately calibrated performance...
[Moore] delivers one of the more memorable performances of her career.
STILL ALICE is rarely anything short of compelling, in part because its sense of progression and scale offers such a distinctively unsentimental take on the terminal-countdown tearjerker.
That Moore's performance is fantastic should come as no surprise... Unfortunately, the rest of the film doesn't rise to the level of Moore's artistry. Full Review
I thought [Richard] Glatzer's experience might give the film more insight than the usual able-bodied writer and director's view of disability. What I didn't expect from this film was how mild and polite it is about the challenges and loss Alice faces. Full Review
