This long overdue Secretly Canadian reissue (including three unreleased demos) may have saved Bobb Trimble from oblivion upon its release in 2007. Trimble, an early 1980s weirdo stalwart of the minuscule music scene in Worcester, Massachusetts, recorded HARVEST OF DREAMS--his second record--in 1983 and it remains a masterpiece of gloriously ambitious psych-folk pop that would must have sounded out of place in its day for the few who heard it.
Trimble's approach finds commonality with both Lindsay Buckingham and Daniel Johnston: combining the former's high-voiced, layered, crafted pop approach with the fragility and head-scratching oddness of the latter. Trimble's voice is so high and beautiful, it lends his songs a singularity resonant in this age or any other.
